The people of Missouri won’t be silenced.

As you read this, voters are attempting to use the state’s referendum process to overturn the gerrymander that was recently passed by the Republican-controlled legislature. But map manipulators are doing everything in their power to prevent the will of the people from prevailing.

First, they tried to reject the referendum effort outright — an illegal attempt to silence the voice of the people. Then, once the petition was allowed to proceed, they refused to count the 100,000 citizen signatures that had already been collected. Now, they want to target and confuse voters with deceptive referendum language that claims their gerrymandered map “better reflects statewide voting patterns.”

Anti-democracy extremists want to mislead voters into rejecting a ballot initiative that would veto the state’s unfair electoral map. We can’t let that happen.

Look: The opponents of this citizen-led effort are well-funded and well-organized. We need to come together to make sure that Missouri voters aren't fooled by their lies.
