We have to convince people deciding between voting for a Democrat or staying on the couch.

When I was first elected to the state legislature in Texas, we flipped a Trump district no one thought was winnable. I was told it was impossible. I was told I was too young, and didn't have the political connections to win.

But my neighbors and I ran an aggressive, authentic, unorthodox campaign that brought people together, and on election night, we flipped that district.

Now in every race — this one included — there are swing voters that are choosing between Democrats and Republicans. We have to win a lot of those voters to win in Texas.

But the biggest group of swing voters is the people choosing between the Democratic Party and the couch.

Those voters don’t need to be persuaded on policy. They have to be persuaded of their own power — that they have the ability to change this corrupt and broken political system.

Maybe you’ve felt that way before too. But the fact that you are reading this email — maybe donating and volunteering too — suggests to me you understand the power you have ... especially when combined with thousands and thousands of people who realize it as well.

That is what this race is going to take. People like you who recognize their power helping us to connect with people who need to be persuaded they have power too.
