Hi,
It's been four months since Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress
defunded public broadcasting. We're already seeing local programming
gutted, steep layoffs, and some stations announcing that they'll go off
the air entirely.^1
But the U.S. Senate is about to take up legislation that could restore
funding for public broadcasting and save stations all over the country.
Local stations are scrambling to piece together enough funding to stay
alive. Without renewed federal support, more than 115 stations — including
many in rural and Tribal areas — are at risk of imminent shutdown in the
year ahead.^2
We've mobilized tens of thousands of people across the country to flood
Capitol Hill with petitions signatures and phone calls to stop the
defunding of public radio and television. Now we're pushing hard to
restore what's been lost before it's too late.

For decades, local public radio and TV stations have provided virtually
every household in America free access to:
* Educational programming for all ages, including children's content
that has helped teach countless kids to read and write.
* Trusted, fact-based news programming on local, national, and
international issues.
* Celebrations of art and culture, from music to dance to the visual
arts and more.
* Lifesaving emergency communications services.
We got all of that and more for just $1.60 per person per year — until
Donald Trump defunded public broadcasting earlier this year.^3
Since then, PBS laid off 15% of its staff.^4 The Corporation for Public
Broadcasting closed its doors.^5 Over 50 local stations have made
layoffs.^6
However, if we act now, we can still prevent the most catastrophic
scenario for local public radio and TV stations.
Soon, the U.S. Senate will begin debate on appropriations bills for
FY2026, and funding for local public radio and TV stations absolutely must
be included. We're mobilizing our members all across the country to speak
with one voice to save public radio and television!

funding for public radio and television?
Thanks for taking action,
