The Trump administration is playing games with our kids’ futures: The New York Times: “Trump Administration Announces Steps to Dismantle Education Department” The administration announced its plans to continue dismantling the Department of Education and put an end to the agency’s role supporting academics at schools across the country. The Department of Education expands access to opportunity, protects civil rights, and ensures that every child can dream big. Stripping it of its essential functions is misguided and wrong — and this administration needs to stop playing games with our kids’ futures.
As the daughter of teachers, my parents instilled in me the importance of education from a young age. They taught me that education is the key to a better, safer world — a belief that has guided me throughout my time in public service. That belief has guided me in the House, working to pass the IDEA Full Funding Act to ensure all kids with disabilities can access a free, high-quality public education. And it’s guiding me now, as I fight back against cuts to the Department of Education and fight to protect our kids’ access to quality education.
