Notes from the Office of Speaker Mike Johnson Hello, friends! Thank you for subscribing to the Office of Speaker Johnson's newsletter highlighting what's happening on Capitol Hill and in Louisiana's 4th Congressional District. | This week, House Republicans passed two bills, the Small Business Regulatory Reform Act and the DUMP Red Tape Act, to codify President Trump's Executive Orders to unleash prosperity through deregulation, empower small businesses, and foster economic growth. Following House passage, Speaker Johnson said, "Small businesses are the backbone of America’s economy, and they deserve a direct line to report harmful red tape – and a federal government that adapts and finds a way to fix it. President Trump and Congressional Republicans are restoring accountability and advancing a deregulatory agenda that delivers real positive relief to Main Street." Following House passage, Speaker Johnson said, "These three important measures improve transparency, strengthen parental rights, and ensure America’s classrooms remain free from harmful foreign propaganda. House Republicans will continue acting decisively to protect America’s next generation and preserve the integrity of our education system." | At the weekly House Republican Leadership press conference, Speaker Johnson discussed House Republicans’ historic work in the 119th Congress to bring down costs for working families, fix Democrats’ broken health care system, and rid American streets of violent criminals and dangerous illegal aliens. Speaker Johnson said, “Republicans have been delivering and working to bring down costs for American families, to fix the Democrats’ broken health care system, and to rid our streets of violent criminals and dangerous illegal aliens.” Click the image below to watch his remarks. | On Tuesday, Speaker Johnson joined President Trump and the Dell family to celebrate their historic $6.25 billion donation to the Trump Accounts program. These pro-family savings accounts—established through the Working Families Tax Cuts—will provide a $1,000 one-time government contribution for every child born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028. Families and others may contribute up to $5,000 annually, and each child in a household with median incomes below $150,000 will receive an additional $250 thanks to the Dell family’s philanthropic gift.
