“The silver lining here is that public lands is one thing that we all unite for. We the people, when we agree on something, you will not divide us.”
- Liz Crandall, Former US Forest Service Ranger

Friend,

For many of us, national parks and our other public lands were the first places that made us fall in love with nature -- the places that taught us how to pay attention, feel grounded, and understand our connection to a world much bigger than ourselves.

That’s why I am so excited to share our newest video with you. It speaks directly to why so many of us care so deeply about our public lands -- and why we must protect the stewards of these lands who have seen severe budget cuts and layoffs.

This video is all about the feeling you get when you step onto a trail, look out across a valley, or sit quietly alongside a river or ocean and feel completely present. And it also lifts up the reality that our public lands are facing right now.

Some decision makers look at our beautiful lands and see revenue instead of heritage. As a result, the National Park Service and US Forest Service have been hit with significant budget cuts, leading to staff shortages that visitors are already feeling.

From the very beginning, Sierra Club has been right there, working hand-in-hand to protect these places we cherish. Our roots include the creation of Yosemite National Park and the advocacy that led to the Wilderness Act of 1964. I’d love for you to watch this video and feel connected to the broader community of people who believe these places deserve our care, not cuts.

When we understand what’s at stake -- and what we stand to lose -- we are better able to protect what we love.

Thank you for being a crucial part of this movement.
