We don’t pay child care workers like they’re the keystone of our economy, and they are.
Friend,
Affordable child care is the keystone of our economy. When child care centers struggle, working families suffer, costing our state billions.
That's why I am thrilled to share a major victory we secured this week. I stood with Governor Shapiro to celebrate passing my legislation in the new state budget.
This win directs $25 million toward staff retention and recruitment, delivering bonuses for 55,000 essential child care workers. As I said to reporters after announcing this funding: “We don’t pay them like they’re the keystone of our economy, and they are.”
This funding is a crucial first step toward giving these professionals the pay and recognition they deserve.
But it is only a start.
Thousands of eligible children across Pennsylvania still lack access to quality care, and centers are struggling to fill over 3,000 jobs. My commitment for next year is clear: we must expand these programs to make child care truly accessible and affordable for every family.
To finish this vital work, I need your support today. My re-election campaign is underway, and keeping this seat means I can continue to fight for real change, just like we did for child care workers.
