It’s been said that a lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is still putting on its shoes. At the Center for Freethought Equality, we’re committed to standing up for the truth -- and taking a stand against lies, no matter how persistent they may be.
Today, we’re in the midst of a devastating pandemic, fed and fueled by the Republican Party’s total rejection of scientific leadership. We know all too well just how destructive actively combating reason is to our country.
That’s why we’re in this fight.
We’re fighting for ideas that shouldn’t even be up for debate, but that this administration and its Christian nationalist supporters continue to attack; ideas like taking scientific experts at their word, defending LGBTQ+ Americans, and protecting reproductive freedom.
We’re pushing back against the extremist religious beliefs that are threatening this country and its people.
With your help, we’ve already helped counter the fundamentalist narrative by increasing the number of state legislators who identify with the atheist and humanist community by 900%. We’ve created the Freethought Equality Fund Political Action Committee, which we’ve used to support candidates across the country. But we know there’s still a long way to go if we want to finally achieve the kind of science-based governance we so clearly need.
