Congress returns to work next week with another round of response to the COVID 19 pandemic among the top issues to be considered. Much needed emergency paid sick and family leave was a critical part of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (HR 6201), but those provisions are only temporary. When the Coronavirus pandemic hit the U.S., over 33 million workers couldn’t get paid time off if they got sick or had to take care of a loved one. In response to COVID-19, and the strong advocacy of ASBC and others, Congress passed the Families First Act in March, which was our country’s first federal paid sick day and paid leave policy. However, it is limited and temporary and expires on December 31, 2020. We need permanent paid sick and family leave and ask you to add your voice to support our FAMILY Act campaign. If you haven't already, please sign on to ASBC's Support the FAMILY Act Campaign. As part of our advocacy, the American Sustainable Business Council would like to share your stories of the impact of paid leave and particularly the impact of the emergency provisions included in Families First, HR 6201. We want to hear your stories and share them with members of Congress so that hopefully we can have a stronger collective voice to improve and expedite the assistance that so many businesses and their employees need right now Sincerely, | |
