1 in 4 women experience serious post-abortion distress, new study reveals

A new study published in the International Journal of Women’s Health Care has found that 24% of women who’ve had abortions experienced serious post-abortion distress (PAD) – even decades after the abortion.

The study ‘Persistent Emotional Distress after Abortion in the United States’ by Paul Sullins of the Ruth Institute analysed data from an online survey of 1,000 U.S. women between the ages of 41 and 45.

22.6% of the women in the survey had undergone an abortion. Significantly, among this group, the average time between the abortion and the survey was approximately 20 years. Demographically - by race, income, and region - the women in the survey closely matched with national averages.

Proposal for European Commission to fund abortions must be halted

On Tuesday, the European Parliament held a hearing on the European Citizens’ Initiative (ECI) “My Voice, My Choice”, which calls on the European Commission to devise a funding mechanism to underwrite abortion provision across the entire EU.

As well as an attempt to push for more abortions, the initiative is also clearly designed to pressure countries like Poland and Malta to abandon the pro-life legal protections that they still provide to safeguard the lives of unborn babies. The “My Voice, My Choice” initiative also targets freedom of

conscience protections for healthcare workers who don’t wish to participate in ending the lives of unborn babies.

Northern Ireland records 2,899 abortions - the highest number to date

There has been another rise in the number of abortions carried out in Northern Ireland. The latest figures released on Wednesday by the Department of Health show that 2,899 abortions happened from 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025.

It is the highest number of abortions on record in Northern Ireland, marking an increase of 104 (3.72%) compared with the year ending 31 March 2024, and representing an incredible 84% increase compared to the year ending 31 March 2021, when there were 1,574 lives lost through abortion.

It is a tragic sight repeated in every place abortion is introduced. Beforehand, activists convince the public that legalisation will barely affect anything. Afterward, when the figures begin to soar, those same activists - and the media - work together to soften, obscure, or deny what is truly happening.

With the advent of social media, however, we at least have a powerful outlet through which to convey the truth and make people aware of the reality of what is taking place. We need to focus more on the opportunities in front of us than on the obstacles in our way. That’s how we’ll turn things around.

Ludwig Minelli

Founder of assisted suicide group Dignitas ends his own life

The group Dignitas said Monday that its founder - who established the controversial assisted-suicide organisation - had ended his own life.

Ludwig Minelli, a onetime journalist and lawyer, died on November 29 through what Dignitas referred to as “voluntary assisted dying.”

The Zurich-based pro-euthanasia organisation, founded by Minelli in 1998 to help individuals end their lives “on their own terms,” offered no additional information regarding the circumstances of his death.

Dignitas, one of Switzerland’s most prominent assisted suicide groups, claims to have killed roughly 4,000 people from Switzerland and abroad since its founding. In a statement after Mr Minelli’s passing, the group vowed to keep going: “The Dignitas team will continue to manage and develop the association in the spirit of its founder as a professional and combative international organization for self-determination and freedom of choice in life and at the end of life.”

According to Life News, there has been a staggering 824.6% increase in assisted suicides among Swiss residents over the past two decades, rising from 187 cases in 2003 to a record 1,729 in 2023.
