I’ve watched a wildfire blaze five miles from my home in Montana. In moments like that, the difference between safety and tragedy comes down to seconds. Early detection makes a difference.

That’s why EDF served as an early science advisor to the development of FireSat, a satellite-based wildfire detection system. The goal is to provide better data for faster and more strategic responses to dangerous wildfires and for understanding the climate impacts from wildfire.
