First code of practice for kombucha released

Kombucha, the sour fermented tea beverage that has been growing in popularity, now has a code of practice. Trade association Kombucha Brewers International (KBI) released a code of practice to establish quality standards for the beverage and is also in the process of developing a seal for manufacturers to identify their kombucha as authentic.

Grocery sales decline in June

Pandemic-level grocery sales are starting to settle down as customers have expanded access to retail and restaurant options. According to estimated data released by the U.S. Census Bureau, the grocery sector saw a 1.6% decline even as overall retail sales notched a 7.5% increase for the month of June. One theory according to Anne-Marie Roerink, president for 210 Analytics, is that “consumers, who were initially preparing more from-scratch meals, are running out of meal ideas and craving variety and convenience.”
