Fringe No More: Nick Fuentes and the Mainstreaming of Hate

(Excerpted from ADL’s

extremely newsletter.)

Tucker Carlson sits across from Nick Fuentes in a two-hour interview, nodding sympathetically as the 27-year-old white supremacist calls for a "pro-white" movement to oppose what he claims is "organized Jewry" undermining American cohesion. No pushback. No challenge. Just a very large platform.

And just like that, a Holocaust denier who has repeatedly praised Hitler and routinely maligns Jews found himself at the center of American political discourse. It's time for a stark reminder of exactly who Fuentes is and what he represents.

Do No Harm? Antisemitism in Healthcare: Dr. Miri Bar-Halpern and ADL’s Sara A. Colb wrote a

lacerating op-ed on why “Antisemitism in Healthcare Is a Public Health Crisis — and Must Be Treated as One.’ As they note, Jewish med students have been harassed and even threatened by colleagues, and Jewish patients have had their concerns denied and dismissed. “While healthcare providers pledge to ‘do no harm,’ that oath is being violated as antisemitism seeps into the very spaces meant to embody compassion and healing.”

The Pray Safe Act: ADL and the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference hosted a webinar titled "Protecting Our Sacred Spaces: The Pray Safe Act" with over 70 pastors and faith leaders. We discussed how this bipartisan, interfaith legislation would enhance protections for houses of worship across all faith traditions. Participants discussed the urgent need for increased federal support through the Nonprofit Security Grant Program, training resources for faith communities to assess and improve their security postures, and policy mechanisms that ensure all religious institutions have access to critical safety resources. The strong turnout demonstrated the deep commitment of
Christian and Hispanic leaders to stand in solidarity for the protection of all sacred spaces in an era of rising threats against communities of faith.

You Can Take Action: Urge Congress to protect synagogues and all houses of worship by passing the Pray Safe Act. The law would help protect congregants from hate-motivated attacks.

MAKING PROGRESS WITH ADL

ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt and NY/NJ Regional Director Scott Richman hosted a briefing at our national office with dozens of Orthodox Jewish leaders from across the region. The group engaged in a dynamic discussion about the state of antisemitism and how ADL is meeting the moment as NYC prepares to enter a new era of mayoral leadership. Attendees were also led on a tour of ADL’s Investigative Research Lab to see the intensive work ADL does in tracking extremism across the country.

The convening, planned by ADL’s Rabbi Yisroel Kahan and Tova Rosenfeld, comes at a vital time. In 2024 alone, we saw a 20% rise in antisemitic incidents targeting Orthodox Jews in the NY/NJ region. Nearly 50% of all antisemitic assaults in New York State targeted Orthodox Jews. We know that Orthodox Jews are disproportionately targeted by those looking to cause harm to Jews because they are easily identifiable as Jews, and we know that underreporting is a tremendous issue in the Orthodox community for many reasons.

@ADLCalifornia

ADL addresses the harassment and violence at Wilshire Boulevard Temple @wbtla. We are outraged by today's antisemitic harassment and violence at Wilshire Boulevard Temple where protesters blocked access, hurled anti-Jewish slurs, damaged property and sought to intimidate people at an event inside the synagogue. Thank you to Mayor Karen Bass for clearly calling this what it was — antisemitic — and increasing LAPD patrols to protect houses of worship. Blocking or invading a house of worship is not legitimate protest. It's intimidation — and it threatens everyone's right to worship freely and without fear. ADL Los Angeles, together with other Jewish community partners, is
actively working on the Mayor's Jewish Community Safety Working Group to advanced politics that keep the Jewish community — and all Angelenos — safe. No one in our city should fear walking in to their synagogue, mosque, church, gurdwara or temple.

It’s deeply troubling that Guinness World Records is refusing submissions from Israel and the Palestinian territories. With @jlensnetwork, we’ve reached out to the leadership at @GWR and the parent company, Jim Pattison Group, to express our serious concern and gather clarification about this double standard. We believe a quick course correction is warranted.

Pleased to see @SenateForeign @SFRCdems advance Yehuda Kaploun's nomination for Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism. This critical position is essential in the global fight against antisemitism and protecting Jewish communities worldwide. We urge the full Senate to act swiftly to confirm Rabbi Kaploun’s nomination to this crucial position.
