These new rules would pave the way for more mining, drilling, and logging in places where endangered species live: [link removed]

Dear Friend,

The Trump administration is proposing to significantly weaken the Endangered Species Act in yet another attempt to give extractive industries a free pass for mining, drilling, logging and other destructive operations where vulnerable wildlife live.

Sound familiar? That’s because it is. Trump’s proposed plan is a rerun of his first term. And like before, it would hollow out this bedrock environmental law and send some of the most vulnerable plants and wildlife, including monarch butterflies, sea turtles, manatees, wolverines, and hundreds more, further down the path to extinction. We've fought this fight before, when Trump tried to gut the Endangered Species Act during his first adminiatration and we aren't going to stop now.

We're counting on you to answer our call again. Speak up now to oppose the Trump administration’s continued attack on the Endangered Species Act. [link removed]

The Endangered Species Act is our strongest tool for tackling the worsening extinction crisis. Earthjustice has used the law to preserve hundreds of species, including grizzly bears, gray wolves, salmon, and orcas — as well as the ecosystems that sustain them.

More than a third of plant and animal species in the U.S. face the possibility of extinction due to habitat loss, pollution, exploitation, and climate change. Even species that are not yet on the brink could soon face huge population declines.

This extinction crisis means an unraveling of the web of life that supports us - from wild rivers and wetlands we rely on for access to clean water, to the pollinators that support our food supplies, and even the research we use to develop life-saving medicine.

At a time when we must redouble our commitment to protect biodiversity and stop extinction, we can’t let this administration sacrifice our natural world to billionaires and corporate interests. Speak up to defend the Endangered Species Act.

Your public comment will help us underscore how deeply unpopular the proposed plan is, in addition to how it defies science and the law. [link removed]

Sincerely,
Kristen Boyles
Managing Attorney
