Our 75+ year old public school buildings are in disrepair: too hot, too cold, and plagued with mold, leaks, asbestos, and poor ventilation. That’s why our Green Healthy Schools campaign is fighting for a healthier and safer learning environment for all New Yorkers.

We’re happy to see Mayor-Elect Mamdani propose a green schools platform that overlaps with our demands, and now it’s our job to make sure this is a priority once he’s in office. 

Join us to call on Mayor-Elect Zohran Mamdani to invest in Green, Healthy Schools with upgraded ventilation, increased energy efficiency, rooftop solar, and more. 

Green Healthy Schools will create 321,000 green union jobs and cut city energy costs so more money can go into student learning. A safer, healthier learning environment will also reduce absences due to asthma, COVID, flu, and other respiratory conditions, which occur at markedly higher rates in Black and Brown neighborhoods.
