My name is Star Parker — and before I ever dreamed of running for Congress, I lived a very different life.
I was a runaway teenager.
I was mixed up in drugs, crime, and chaos.
I was an unemployed single mother living on welfare, barely literate, angry, and convinced the world owed me a living.
I came to Los Angeles in the 1970s hoping to dance on Soul Train. Instead, I found myself trapped in a destructive cycle that the government claimed would “help” me…but only made everything worse.
I learned the hard way what big government really does to people: it keeps them dependent, powerless, and broken.
But everything changed when I found Christ, and with it, a new clarity, a new direction, and a no-excuses belief in the dignity of personal responsibility.
I took control of my life.
I left welfare.
I built a business, a career, and a platform grounded in truth — not fear.
For decades, I’ve spoken out against the same government overreach that once held me hostage:
• Telling Americans they’re victims instead of empowering them
• Encouraging generational dependency instead of independence
• Weaponizing identity politics
• Undermining family, faith, and moral responsibility
• Expanding a bloated bureaucracy that swallows communities whole
That experience — that transformation — is exactly why I’m running for Congress in California’s 49th District.
Because I’ve lived under the system Washington built…And I know exactly how to dismantle it.
Our nation is at a breaking point. Bureaucrats are exerting more control over our lives than ever before, while families, parents, and small businesses are left behind. The same machine that once trapped me is trapping millions more, and it must be stopped.
I’m stepping forward to restore freedom, rebuild opportunity, and return power to the people who built this country…not the politicians who have forgotten them.
Together, we can confront the failed policies of big government and reclaim the American Dream for every family still fighting to rise above the system that tried to hold them down.
