GOP forces are pouring in dark money and launching this redistricting scheme to push me out of Congress. Despite these efforts to rip away real representation from North Carolina, I’m still running— and friend, I won’t go down without a fight.
I have spent my life serving the people of eastern North Carolina the best ways I know how. From my first job in the tobacco fields, to serving in the Air Force for eight years, to having the privilege to serve as mayor of Snow Hill, state senator, and now congressman. The work that I have done has always been to make our community the best it can be.
But the Republican-led effort to unfairly redraw district lines mid-cycle threatens to silence your voice and undermine our democracy. We can’t let that happen. And although I’ve been named the most vulnerable House member, I will never give up on North Carolina.
