Day 318

It’s Day 318 of President Trump’s second term. No one has lost their Social Security, Medicare, or veterans’ benefits in spite of constant media and leftist lies.

Stand With Me!

As you will read below, we’re facing challenges on every front—from conservative complacency to new Deep State hoaxes.

American Values is on the frontline fighting for you. Let me know you are still in the battle!

A Win & A Warning

Republican Matt Van Epps won yesterday’s special election for Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District 54% to 45%. In most cases, a nine-point victory would be considered a landslide. Except that in previous elections the district was won in clear landslides.

In 2018, when the seat was last vacant, the GOP nominee won by a 35-point margin—67% to 32%—in what was a terrible year for the GOP. After redistricting in 2022 moved more Nashville Democrats into the 7th District, the Republican nominee won by 22 points—60% to 38%. Donald Trump also carried the district by 22 points.

Some Republican analysts are saying that the Democrat candidate was a far-left socialist and the result shows that socialism won’t work in states like Tennessee.

It doesn’t show that at all. In fact, you can make an argument that it shows the opposite. Socialists can look at these results and say, “Look how close our policies made this race!”

More accurately, it shows what we have been arguing for years now—that populism of either the Left or the Right is the mood of the country. And most voters don’t discern the difference between the two. They want someone who will fight for them, the little guy.

It won’t work for Republican candidates to just say, “You can’t make childcare free. Who will pay for that? You can’t make healthcare free. Who will pay for that? You can’t make college free. Who will pay for that?”

Socialists will say they will make billionaires and big businesses pay for it, and polling shows that most Americans want billionaires and big businesses to pay for it. A poll last month found that 72% of Americans—including 48% of Republicans—supported raising taxes on billionaires.

The traditional message of the Republican establishment worked in the Reagan years, and it worked other times. But it doesn’t work now. The wealth gap is far greater now than it was in the Reagan years. The weariness with no-win wars is off the charts.

Too often, Republican candidates speak like accountants. God knows we need some serious accounting help. America is tottering on bankruptcy.

That’s not what most Americans wake up worried about in the morning. They’re worried about their own bankruptcy!

Donald Trump gets it. That’s one reason why he wants to rebate tariff revenues to the American people. (See below.)

Trump’s Marathon Meeting

Yesterday’s White House cabinet meeting lasted nearly 2.5 hours. It was President Trump’s ninth cabinet meeting—the same number of cabinet meetings that Joe Biden held over all four years of his term!

President Trump suggested again that he is trying to figure out a way to return the revenue raised by tariffs—$260 billion so far—to the American people.

Tax refunds next year will reportedly be record-breaking. The president said, “Next year is projected to be the largest tax refund season ever. And we’re going to be giving back refunds out of the tariffs . . . we’re going to be giving a nice dividend to the people, in addition to reducing debt.”

Of course, all the same people who said it was legitimate for Joe Biden to forgive student debt, even though the Supreme Court said he couldn’t, are now saying President Trump can’t rebate the tariff revenue. I guarantee he will try.

Unprecedented Lies

Yesterday we noted how you are being told that totally normal things are now “unprecedented.” That’s the Left’s favorite new buzzword they’re using to convince you that no president has ever acted like this before and that everything Trump is doing is “unprecedented,” “un-American,” and even a “war crime.”

Everything you’re being told is a complete and utter lie. It’s performative art. These are actors speaking words trying to make you believe a reality that does not exist.

The Washington Post claimed that Secretary of War Hegseth ordered a second strike on a cartel drug boat in order to kill any survivors. He did not. And even the New York Times is debunking the Post’s outrageous claims. The Post reporter responsible for this libel should be fired immediately!

Here’s the truth: Hegseth authorized the strike and left it up to Admiral Mitch Bradley, a Navy SEAL and commander of the United States Special Operations Command, to carry out the mission. That’s exactly what Hegseth told our commanders he was going to do—take the handcuffs off and let them do their jobs.

When Secretary of War Hegseth speaks to the troops, he tells them that the U.S. military has one goal—to be the most lethal force the world has ever seen so it can kill the enemies of the United States. He’s right.

The Left, the media, woke generals, and politicians like Sen. Mark Kelly, who served in the military, went nuts. “This is not how a defense secretary should talk,” they said. “This is not what America is!”

No. What wasn’t “what America is” were the Biden years when the military was focused on making homosexuals feel at home, transgenders were using whatever bathroom in the Pentagon they wanted, and drag queens were prancing around U.S. military bases and being used in recruiting videos.

We couldn’t even retreat out of Afghanistan without brave young Americans being slaughtered at an airport.

The parents of the heroes said Biden never said anything to them that mattered. He never reached out to them, gave any indication he understood their loss, and never took any responsibility for what happened.

That’s when we were doing things that were unprecedented, not normal, and not “what America is.”

Kill The Enemy

Thousands of videos were circulating on social media showing U.S. forces calling in drone strikes, AC-130 strikes, and helicopter gunship strikes on targets in Iraq and Afghanistan based on nothing but blurry images on screens. The targets weren’t wearing uniforms because our enemy doesn’t wear uniforms.

If the first strike didn’t kill the enemy, we hit them again. That’s what happens in war. That’s how you win wars—by destroying your enemy. But it’s been happening less and less in recent years, and that’s why we have been fighting wars to, at best, a tie.

Sadly, most Americans have never served in the military, and many don’t even know someone who has. So, when we get senators, like Mark Kelly, who have served and should know better, claiming this strike on foreign drug traffickers was a war crime, you know something else is going on.

I believe a revolutionary atmosphere is being created in order to remove the duly-elected president of the United States.

This smells like another Deep State hoax that Democrats will use to divide America, undermine the administration, and impeach Donald Trump or worse.

What is so amazing about this is the relative unanimity of the reporting. It’s the equivalent of state-run government media. Of course, the media is not run by this government. But the Left is capable of deploying propaganda at state-run levels of intensity. Most Americans will hear these biased messages 99 times a day and our message only once.

The Trump White House is doing everything it can to fight this. It recently created a “media bias” website to expose the fake news media and provide the truth.

The Totalitarian Left

Yesterday, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in First Choice Women’s Resource Centers v. Platkin. This case really exposes the totalitarian impulses of the Left and how Democrats do not hesitate to weaponize the power of government against their political opponents.

The case involved a pro-life pregnancy resource center in New Jersey that provides women the choice of life. Democrats have declared war on these centers, many of which are Christian ministries. Matthew Platkin, New Jersey’s Democrat attorney general, issued a subpoena to First Choice Women’s Resource Centers demanding the surrender the names and addresses of its donors.

The subpoena was nothing more than a blatant attempt to intimidate and dissuade pro-life conservatives from financially supporting First Choice.

Given the stakes involved in this critical case, American Values weighed in, joining an amicus brief to the justices defending the pro-life ministry against the totalitarian intrusion of New Jersey’s leftist regime.

Justice Clarence Thomas repeatedly asked New Jersey’s attorney why the subpoena was even issued. Eventually, the attorney conceded that the state had never received any complaints against First Choice. Thomas rhetorically replied, “So you had no basis to think that they were deceiving any of their contributors?”

Some legal analysts think this could be a 7 to 2 decision against New Jersey, as even liberal Justice Elena Kagan appeared skeptical of New Jersey’s arguments.

Has Kagan seen the light? Who knows? But it may have crossed her mind that if Democrat states can demand donor lists of pro-life organizations, then a Republican state might start demanding donor lists from groups that are funding the radical Left.
