The pro-abortion Political Parties in Northern Ireland
have the blood of 11,389 babies on their hands

Hi John,

This week came the shocking news that nearly 3,000 unborn babies were killed by abortion in Northern Ireland in 2024/25.

The Department of Health published its annual Northern Ireland Abortion Statistics for 2024/25 on Tuesday. In the report they admit they killed 2,899 babies by abortion, an increase of 104 babies killed from the previous year.

In a statement to the media, Precious Life Director Bernadette Smyth said the figures reveal a “horrifying reality.”

“Behind each of these numbers is a child who never got the chance to live. The so-called Department of ‘Health’ admits it killed 2,899 babies, that’s an average of eight babies killed every single day. Most of these babies were killed by abortion drugs. The Department kills babies up to 12 weeks old for any reason, no questions asked!” she said.

“The Department also admit in their report that 33 abortions were carried out when the baby was aged from 20 weeks up to the moment of birth. 19 babies were killed simply because they may have had a disability. And shockingly, the Department carried out 74 abortions on girls aged under 18 years old.”

A total of 319 babies were killed by surgical abortions :

Dilation and Curettage (D&C) - the living child is cut to pieces with a curette knife.

Suction Abortion - a hollow tube with a knife-tipped edge tears the baby apart and sucks the pieces into a container. The head is crushed.

Dilation and Evacuation (D&E) - the baby is manually crushed to fit through the cervix; and a pliers-like device is used to crush the skull, arms and legs.

Prostaglandin Abortion - a chemical is injected into the mother's womb to cause powerful contractions and expel the baby. The baby usually dies from the trauma of the delivery, but if born alive, the baby is left alone to die – moving, whimpering and crying.

The statistics also revealed:

The Belfast Trust killed the highest number of babies – 797.

The South Eastern Trust killed 676 babies

The Northern Trust killed 563 babies

The Southern Trust killed 511

The Western Trust killed 352 babies

Bernadette highlighted the wider impact of these figures on society.

“In May last year, the Department admitted they had killed 8,490 babies since abortion was imposed on Northern Ireland in 2020. With these latest numbers, the total number of babies killed has now reached 11,389. Meanwhile, our Health Service is in crisis. with tens of thousands of people waiting years for genuine medical care, yet the Department can prioritise the killing of unborn babies.”

She also criticised the political parties that supported the introduction of abortion.

“Abortion was forced on Northern Ireland by Westminster with the full support of Sinn Féin, the SDLP, Alliance Party, Green Party and People Before Profit. They now have the blood of these 11,389 babies on their hands” she said.

In coming elections, Precious Life will ensure every voter knows the shocking truth of these parties’ complicity in the killing of 11,389 babies. Westminster’s abortion law must be scrapped, and unborn children must once again be protected. Precious Life will continue campaigning, educating and mobilising communities until abortion becomes both illegal and unthinkable in Northern Ireland.

Latest attack on Precious Life from the Alliance Party
New draft byelaws for Belfast City Centre have been withdrawn after the Alliance Party complained that they didn’t go far enough in targeting pro-life groups.

This was a direct attack on Precious Life, as the Alliance Party knows that Precious Life is the only pro-life group with a weekly public presence in Belfast City Centre.

The byelaws were originally drawn up for “the prevention and suppression of nuisances in Belfast City Centre.” The Council would have required people to apply for permits to set up an information table or to speak publicly on the streets. No permits would have been issued to anyone the Council disagreed with.

This would also have targeted Street Preachers who proclaim God’s Word in the Bible (which the SDLP described as “hate speech” and “bile”).

As we reported last week - after our PROTECT FREE SPEECH Campaign, the Council backed down on their original proposals and amended the byelaws so that people wouldn’t be required to apply for permits. However, anyone using amplification equipment exceeding 70 decibels would be fined up to £500.

We also warned that Precious Life could still be targeted.

This came sooner than expected when, at the full monthly Belfast City Council meeting on Monday, several parties rejected the amended byelaws after an Alliance Party proposal stating they “did not go far enough.”

Alliance Councillor Jenna Maghie complained the byelaws didn't “deal with” pro-life groups (i.e. Precious Life).

According to her, targeting Street Preachers was only the bare minimum, but this wasn’t “good enough.” She said pro-life displays were “more than negative” and “traumatising” so £500 fines were not enough and needed to be higher.

DUP Alderman Dean McCullough summed up her real intentions when he said, “From the outset, these byelaws were driven by a desire to target certain groups, primarily street preachers and the pro-life witnesses.”

The byelaws will now return to the Council’s Strategic Policy and Resources Committee, where pressure is likely to be put on them to effectively ban Precious Life from the streets of Belfast City Centre.

Once again the Alliance Party have let their mask slip. While they portray themselves to the public as the rational ‘middle ground’ party in Northern Ireland, their hatred for the pro-life message, and indeed any Christian values, is always bubbling below the surface.

But we are not deterred. Precious Life will stand firm and continue to be a voice for the unborn child through our public witness in Belfast City Centre.
