Hey, John, remember this spring when my committee discovered that Kristi Noem wanted taxpayer money for a brand new plane? A plane that could cost up to $50 million out of the U.S. Coast Guard budget.

Through my oversight work, we’ve now found out that she’s bought not one plane, but two planes costing more than $200 million of your taxpayer money.

And that happened during the government shutdown, when the Trump administration was actively trying to make people go hungry by cutting off food assistance.

Have you ever noticed how these things tend to come in threes? Well, how about this? We recently found out that Noem invoked the “border emergency” to circumvent contracting rules, awarding a $220 million DHS contract to a company she and her staff have personal ties to.

Kristi Noem has spent the last several months in charge of a campaign to instill fear in our community. They are trampling on our constitutional rights. Sending ICE to snatch our neighbors. Millions of Americans are getting notifications right now that their health care costs are skyrocketing. 

And Secretary Noem is buying not one, but two new private planes. And lining the pockets of her close staff and friends.

Unacceptable. This is corruption at the highest levels, plain and simple.

We should be investing in our national security and improving the lives of our Coasties — not wasting taxpayer dollars on luxury travel and political stunts. I'm demanding answers. Will you join me by adding your name to my petition?
