Veterans Day Parade

I want to extend my sincere thanks to the City of Surprise for inviting me to take part in this year’s Veterans Day Parade. It meant so much to be included in a community tradition that honors the incredible men and women who have served our country.

Being in the parade- seeing the smiling faces, the families waving their flags, and the veterans who stood proudly along the route was truly a touching experience. Moments like these remind me how special our community is and how important it is that we continue to show our deep appreciation for our veterans, not just on Veterans Day, but every day.

It was a joy to participate, and I’m grateful for the warmth and hospitality shown throughout the event.

Honoring Our Veterans

I had the privilege of spending time with more than 20 U.S. Veterans at The Park at Surprise Independent Living Community. Veterans from every branch of the military were represented, each with a unique story of service, courage, and dedication to our country.

What made the visit especially meaningful was the opportunity to speak with two World War II veterans. Hearing their memories firsthand was incredibly humbling. Their strength, resilience, and continued spirit are reminders of the extraordinary sacrifices made by the Greatest Generation.

I am deeply grateful to everyone at The Park at Surprise for welcoming me so warmly.

Toyota Proving Ground Tour

I had a great time meeting with representatives from Toyota, who provided an introductory tour of their proving ground facility. It was a valuable opportunity to learn about their vehicle testing operations, safety innovations, and commitment to advancing technology in our region.

New Maricopa County Public Health Center in Goodyear

I was honored to celebrate the opening of the new Maricopa County Public Health Center in Goodyear. With $18 million in ARPA funding, we transformed a former school into a modern health center to improve access to essential services.

For the first time, immunizations, WIC, vital records, and STI services are all in one convenient location. This center reflects our commitment to equitable care for West Valley families. Thank you to our Public Health team, my colleagues, and the residents who helped make it possible.

Tervalis Grand Opening

I was grateful for the invitation to take part in the November 14th grand opening of Teravalis, a landmark occasion for both the West Valley and the City of Buckeye. Spanning 37,000 acres, this expansive master-planned development is among the largest in the country. It marks an exciting new chapter for our community’s future. I extend my best wishes to Teravalis as this bold and forward-looking project continues to unfold.

Ranger Energy Center

My colleagues and I approved the Ranger Energy Center after a careful and difficult decision. I worked to balance private property rights with community concerns about battery-storage safety, while recognizing the site’s industrial zoning and the fact that Luke Air Force Base restrictions prevent any residential development there. Added conditions, such as greater setbacks, safety measures, and screening help ensure the project is integrated as responsibly as possible.

In my recent closing remarks, I shared highlights from the past few weeks, including tours of County departments, speaking with students at Grand Canyon University, joining the City of Surprise Veterans Day Parade, and visiting with veterans at The Park at Surprise Independent Living Community. It’s been an honor to connect with so many dedicated public servants, engaged students, and incredible veterans across our community. Sheriff's Office Tour

I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the Sheriff’s Office for all they do to keep our communities safe. I had the opportunity to take an in-depth tour of their jail facilities and learn more about their operations, programs, and the dedicated staff who work tirelessly every day to ensure public safety.

I greatly appreciate their professionalism and commitment to serving and protecting our residents.

Flood Control District of Maricopa County

All Hands Meeting

I had an incredible time attending the Flood Control District’s All Hands Meeting. It was a pleasure meeting with the dedicated team members and touring their impressive facility.

The District was truly put to the test this past month when the Valley experienced significant rainfall. I am proud to report that their systems and structures performed exactly as designed- protecting our communities and demonstrating the strength of their planning and preparation.

Thank you to everyone at the Flood Control District for your hard work and commitment to public safety. I appreciated the opportunity to visit and learn more about the important work you do every day.

Maricopa County Department of Transportation Tour

I would like to thank the Maricopa County Department of Transportation for inviting me to tour the department and spend time with their exceptional team. I truly enjoyed meeting with staff across the organization and gaining a deeper understanding of the work they do every day to keep our roads safe, efficient, and well-planned for the future. Their dedication is clear in every project, and I value the chance to learn more about the important work they do for our communities.

Elections Updates

Board of Supervisors Canvasses November Jurisdictional Elections

On November 19, the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors canvassed results for the November Jurisdictional Elections.

Final, official results can be found at Maricopa.Vote.

Results include a total of 704,548 ballots reported for this election.
This represents 26.56% of total eligible voters for the jurisdictional election.
There were 2,652,691 total registered voters in MaricopaCounty eligible to vote in the jurisdictional election.

Parks Update

Don’t forget to hit the trails for the Maricopa County Parks and Recreation Department’s annual 100 Miles in 100 Days Challenge, which runs through February 8, 2026. Initially launched in 2012, the Challenge encourages participants to hike, bike, run, or horseback ride 100 miles in 100 days. Participants who complete the Challenge will be entered into a grand-prize drawing for an annual park pass ($85 value) and a $25 Nature Center retail voucher.
