John,
Nearly a quarter of all the national forest land in America could soon lose protection. Then, our forests would be overrun with roads, bulldozers and chainsaws.[1]
These trees could be cut down to stumps. Our forests will lose their magic, and the animals that call them home will have lost their shelter.
The bustling woods will become a dead zone.
We'd lose the satisfying crunch of bright red and burnt orange leaves underfoot; the rustle of pine needles in the brisk wind will go silent; the shimmer of golden aspens on the hillside will disappear.
If our wild forests are going to survive, we need our team of forest defenders to come together.
There are just a few hours before Giving Tuesday is over. Will you become a forest defender and donate? Give before midnight and your gift will be matched, up to $50,000 nationwide.

This past year has put our forests through the wringer. Trees across millions of acres are in danger of being chopped down.
But along with forest guardians like you, we can defend the trees. Here are a few things we're doing to save our forests:
* Protect wild forests like the Santa Fe National Forest: 45 million acres of wild forest could be torn down.1] We're calling on the Forest Service to stop its plans to open these forests to logging and mining. [Match my gift >>

* Stop anti-forest bills in Congress: We're urging key members of Congress to oppose bills that would open our forests up to unchecked logging, such as the deceptively-named Fix Our Forests Act. Match my gift >>

* Defend the boreal forest: We're losing 1 million acres of the boreal forest every year, in part for lumber and slightly softer toilet paper.2] We're asking Home Depot, Costco, Ace Hardware and more to commit to not source wood products from critical boreal habitat. [Match my gift >>
