Hi ,

Giving Tuesday ends at midnight, and I want to be sure you saw my colleague Jennifer Orsi’s message below.

We’ve set an ambitious goal this year: 100 new donors in a single day. It’s bold, but it reflects the incredible community that supports Poynter’s mission.

Over 35 individuals have already stepped up. Many cite Poynter values such as journalism ethics, media literacy, press freedom and facts as their reasons for giving.

Can we count on you before the day ends? ([link removed])

We know that you may have already supported other fantastic causes today. Even a small donation to Poynter means standing up for journalism and democracy.

Thanks so much,

Aaron Sharockman

VP of Partnerships, Poynter Institute

Hi ,

The feedback we have received during Poynter’s year-end fundraising campaign captures what we do — and why we do it — perfectly.

“We need principled journalists dedicated to reporting the truth, and the Poynter Institute strives to produce such journalists.”

“Well-researched objective information is always important, but increasingly rare. Thank you for the good work you do.”

“Your work is key for journalism to thrive once again in the U.S.”

We’re reaching out this Giving Tuesday to say thank you. Whether you read Tom Jones’ newsletter every morning, share articles from our website with colleagues, or participate in Poynter training, you help equip journalists with the support and resources they need to serve their communities.

I’ll leave you with this donor’s reason for giving that stood out to us:

“Darkness is closing in on a number of fronts. Poynter is a lighthouse. And one worth supporting.”

Your support ensures that light stays strong. In a time when misinformation and threats to the press are growing, we remain committed to advancing journalism in service to democracy. Every gift made today is matched, doubling your impact. Will you join us in our mission to strengthen journalism?

Thank you for being such a vital part of Poynter’s community. We are grateful for you, and deeply enjoy reading the reasons you support our mission and work.

With sincere appreciation,

Jennifer Orsi
