Dear John,

If we listened to the fundraising consultants -- we'd slap an arbitrary deadline and fundraising goal on this #GivingTuesday email and tell you if we don't meet it by midnight, all hope is lost.

But that's not true and it's not our style.

Instead, we prefer to spend #GivingTuesday bragging relentlessly about our amazing team at the California Policy Center.

CPC's team has been allergic to losing in 2025:
  • Our experts met with President Trump and appeared before Congress to present nearly 30 policy recommendations to help prevent devastating wildfires in California...
  • Our Parent Union & CLEO coalitions stopped bills that would have closed charter schools up and down the state...
  • We've trained hundreds of local elected officials across the state to make better decisions – without relying on government unions to guide their thinking...
  • We author articles daily offering policy solutions for California that are published by major media outlets nationwide...
  • We passed a bill requiring more transparency in local government finances...
  • ...and we've dramatically increased the amount of philanthropists who have joined our movement, resulting in our best fundraising year ever.
Here's the #GivingTuesday deal: Every dollar we raise today isn't going to meet an arbitrary goal. It's going to help us be more efficient, effective and aggressive when we take on some of the state's largest challenges.

If this #GivingTuesday you're considering investing in the future of our state, its not to late to join us on offense.

Sincerely,

Will Swaim

California’s Economy Grows More Dependent on AI

California’s trajectory is becoming increasingly dependent on the tech sector. And now that tech has gone all in on artificial intelligence, the state’s finances are vulnerable to either a bursting of the “AI Bubble” or an exit of AI innovators to other states. CPC visiting fellow Marc Joffe explains why California policymakers should do what they can to retain our tech superstars. Read Joffe's commentary in The Epoch Times.

ICYMI: Shifting Costs Does Not Solve California’s Electricity Shortages

California’s Little Hoover Commission released it's recommendations to lower the cost of electricity in California. But while the commission identifies the soaring gap between California’s electricity prices and the rest of the nation, it ignores the most significant underlying causes. Read the analysis from Edward Ring, CPC's director of water and energy policy.
