Governor Gordon Applauds the Next Steps in Energy Innovation
“This rigorous review confirms what President Trump, I, and many others have long maintained: advanced nuclear power is essential to delivering reliable power, securing our energy independence, and keeping America competitive.”
CHEYENNE, Wyo. - Dec. 2, 2025 - Governor Mark Gordon (R-WY) issues the following statement regarding TerraPower’s recent announcement:
“Passing the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s final safety evaluation is a major milestone for TerraPower’s Natrium project, for Kemmerer, for Wyoming, and for America’s energy future. This rigorous review confirms what President Trump, I, and many others have long maintained: advanced nuclear power is essential to delivering reliable power, securing our energy independence, and keeping America competitive.
Wyoming exports about 12 times more energy than we consume. With the current and expected demand for energy, the Wyoming energy pie only gets larger, so our core energy sources will continue to supply energy to our consumers. The nuclear piece will fit nicely in our energy portfolio.
Wyoming has powered this nation for generations, and with this next-generation reactor, Wyoming is once again at the forefront of energy innovation. Today is an exciting step forward for Kemmerer’s workforce and for the next era of American energy.”
