The Bill of Rights Institute and iCivics are partnering to host the Civic Star Challenge! This contest rewards K-12 teachers and classrooms for any classroom activity that references themes from the Declaration of Independence in American history. Teachers have the opportunity to win up to 400 classroom prizes!
Educators who have submitted activities toCivic Star Challenge can be considered for additional prizes like a $10,000 grant for their school, an all-expenses-paid national civic education trip, or a share of over $100,000 when they join theCivic Star Leader Essay Challenge.
How to Join Civic Star Leader Essay Challenge!
After you log at least one activity to the Civic Star Challenge portal, you will receive an invitation to join the Civic Star Leader Essay Challenge.
To submit an essay, teachers must answer the prompt: "Why is civic learning important in my classroom, and how does it empower my students?" The essay must be between 500-750 words to be eligible. April 1, 2026, is the deadline for submission.
