On her first night in prostitution, a large, drunk man—unhappy with her “performance”—became angry with her. He threw her across the room, punched her in the face, and broke one of her teeth.
Ally continued to suffer violence in the sex trade for years, and when she finally escaped, she carried immense shame. Her broken teeth became a visible symbol of that shame.
