Hello John ,
Greg here from Stewardship Utah. It’s Giving Tuesday, and if you’ve been with us for a while, you already know what I’m about to say: we’re asking you to ignore Giving Tuesday.
If that sounds strange, here’s why: Giving Tuesday has become a high-stakes day; an arms race that overwhelmingly benefits the most prominent nonprofits with national reach, huge ad buys, and paid promotional boosts. For smaller, community-rooted groups like Stewardship Utah, that concentrated pressure means we’re effectively competing against dozens of organizations for the same limited dollars. It’s a model that helps the giants and leaves the rest of us fighting to meet our fundraising goals.
And with everything coming at Utah’s land, air, water, and democratic systems, we cannot afford to be a once-a-year organization. That’s why today, instead of asking for a one-time contribution, I’m asking you to join us as a monthly sustaining donor.

Your Monthly Support Powers Real Work Every Month of the Year
2025 was one of the most impactful years in our organization’s history. Monthly donors helped us:
* Launch the updated Prosperity 2030 [[link removed]] , the only citizen-led, data-backed roadmap to cutting emissions 50% by 2030, to the public and work with leaders around the state to make it a reality.
* Advance urgent Great Salt Lake protections through policy proposals, community events like Weber Basin Water Talks [[link removed]] , and coalition building.
* Support Navajo Nation weatherization and home-heating work , even after the federal Community Change Grant was canceled.
* Bring together hunters, ranchers, tribal leaders, recreationists, conservationists, and local officials at Land We Share [[link removed]] , our statewide public lands summit.
* Train volunteers, mobilize voters, and protect democratic participation in a year where the stakes could not have been higher.
And these aren’t one-time projects—they’re long-term commitments.

2025 and 2026 are shaping up to be even bigger.
Sustainer support ensures our team has the stability needed to:
* Push Prosperity 2030 legislation and local air-quality reforms in the 2026 session.
* Protect vote-by-mail and prevent further voter suppression efforts from moving forward.
* Expand Great Salt Lake community education and basin-wide collaboration.
* Continue our voter registration and candidate recruitment efforts on the Navajo Nation.
* Scale our election-year mobilization work —primary, general, and everything in between.
* Enroll new cities in the Community Renewable Energy Program –getting us closer to our goal to have 50% of Rocky Mountain Power’s customers on renewable energy.
* Continue organizing, coalition-building, and community outreach with no “off-season.”
This work doesn’t pause. And with everything coming at Utah’s land, air, water, and democratic systems, we cannot afford to be a once-a-year organization.

And if you still prefer to give once today…
Of course, if you’d like to make a one-time donation this Giving Tuesday, or explore other ways to support our work, we’re deeply grateful. You can do that here as well [[link removed]] . Your generosity is what made our progress in 2025 possible, and it’s what will keep this momentum going into 2026.
From me, our full team, and every small nonprofit doing big work with limited resources: thank you. We couldn’t do this without you.
Here’s to our next 12 months of community, momentum, and good stewardship.
Onward!
Greg
