This is the fight of our lifetime <[link removed]>

Good morning, I'm Cecillia Wang, National Legal Director at the ACLU. As you know, today is Giving Tuesday, and our team has a goal to raise $1 million before midnight. <[link removed]> Can I share with you why this goal matters?

For more than 105 years and through 19 different presidential administrations, our mission has remained unchanged: defend, protect, and expand civil rights and liberties for all people nationwide.

Throughout these years, we've faced some significant battles. But in my two decades as an ACLU lawyer, I must say: The moment that we are in right now is unprecedented.

I have never seen this scope, ferocity, and lawlessness of attacks on free speech, immigrants' rights, LGBTQ rights, and voting rights. This, truly, is the fight of our lifetime.

Since day one of the Trump administration, our team has fought back, filing our first lawsuit within two hours of President Trump's first unlawful order on Inauguration Day. Already we've taken over 200 legal actions – and counting – against the Trump administration's abuses of power and attacks on our rights. And we're winning: In more than 70% of our cases, we have already successfully defeated, diluted, or delayed President Trump's agenda.

ACLU Supporter, the year ahead will bring more battles. Recently, we've seen the Trump administration detain journalists for their reporting, deploy National Guard troops to U.S. cities to suppress and chill peaceful protest, and conduct horrifying raids on our communities as part of President Trump's mass detention and deportation agenda. You can be assured that the ACLU will never stop protecting our rights in courtrooms, legislatures, and communities nationwide.

But the reality is that we rely on the support of individuals like you to keep this work going. As someone who has defended the people's rights from trial courts to the Supreme Court, I can tell you, this work takes a lot of resources, and we can't do it without our members.

Please, will you make a donation right now towards our $1 million Giving Tuesday goal? Falling short is not an option – not when so much is at stake. <[link removed]>

The ACLU was built for moments like this, and we're not backing down. Thank you in advance for your generous support.
