Here’s just a glimpse at the battles ahead: 

• Trophy hunters are standing ready to hunt species like gray wolves and grizzly bears back to the brink of extinction. We almost lost these iconic species before, and now bills are moving through Congress that could end their lifesaving protections under the Endangered Species Act! 

• A greedy segment of the pork industry is attacking our progress for farm animals kept in cruel confinement. Consumers and farmers want better conditions for suffering hens, mother pigs and cows—but recent animal welfare wins could be thrown into chaos if they succeed in their efforts to invalidate Prop 12 and similar state animal welfare laws across the country.

• People are being deceived by American Kennel Club misinformation, an organization that claims to care deeply about dogs but the reality couldn’t be farther from the truth. Like a recent rescue by Humane World for Animals’ Animal Rescue Team of 100 dogs from a Maryland breeding facility certified by the AKC. Many were malnourished, suffering from painful abscesses and in need of urgent dental surgeries. The situation in puppy mills is dire, yet lifesaving legislation is being actively opposed by the AKC.
