We did all this and much more—thanks to you.
At our recent event launching SAM’s New York Impact Report, a mother bravely spoke about the real dangers of today’s marijuana and intoxicating hemp products. Her son, a young man with his whole future ahead of him, lost his life after using a high-potency vape for only the second time. Her pain is profound. And it was a stark reminder that these are not abstract policy issues—they are life-and-death realities for families across this country.
This is what we are up against: an industry that continues to push increasingly potent products, fully aware of the harm they do, and willing to look the other way as long as the profits keep coming.
That’s why we do this work. Please consider supporting us.
That’s why we gather parents and family members of those harmed by marijuana through the Parent Action Network, so we can amplify and share their stories.
That’s why we fight to keep lawmakers on both sides of the aisle informed about the dangers and risks marijuana presents to public health in their home states and across the country.
That’s why we attend conferences, write op-eds, and give interviews letting the public know about the dangers of high-potency THC—and reassuring them that we have their back. We work hard to amplify voices and stories that could be forgotten. We are bringing these stories to DC, state legislatures, community leaders, families, and individuals.
We are fighting for health-first policies and it’s working. The President recently signed SAM-authored language to close the hemp loophole that allowed intoxicating hemp products to be sold nationwide in convenience stores. No more putting profits above people.
It’s all to help protect kids like the young man we honored in New York. The industry will not go quietly. They are already lobbying Congress to repeal the hemp ban and are pushing out ever more misinformation on the drugs they peddle.
We are standing firm, ready to stop the industry. And we need your help.
We will defend our wins. We will hold the line. And we will continue working hard for every parent, every family, and every community suffering the consequences of Big Marijuana’s reach.
Thank you all for your generosity. Your support means more than you know, and it strengthens every part of our work. If you have not yet made your Giving Tuesday gift, please consider doing so before the day ends. Every contribution helps us move our mission forward.
When we look at what lies ahead for our dedicated group of perennial underdogs, we see more and more need and opportunity to continue pushing back against Big Weed.
Thank you for standing with us. We would not be able to do this work without you.
Warmly,
Kevin
