All animals are thinking, feeling individuals deserving of our love. But on factory farms, pigs like Lizzie and Robbie are treated as nothing more than products.
The pair was rescued from a cruelty case in New York’s Finger Lakes region, where Lizzie and Robbie were found dangerously malnourished and lacking proper food, water, shelter, and care. After spending some time at the Finger Lakes SPCA, we brought these bonded pigs to our New York sanctuary.
Here, they spend hours each day roaming their pastures, lounging in mud puddles, and nesting under layers of straw in their barns. Most importantly, they are free to be themselves—funny and sweet individuals who love approaching us with joyful grunts every day.
