Just as the new cockfighting season is beginning, we shut down a long-running pit in West Virginia. Your support gives us the ability to gather critical information and push law enforcement to act—and they did.

On November 28, after receiving a call from SHARK, West Virginia State Troopers entered a barn packed with nearly 90 people and 150 roosters. The moment officers walked in, the crowd scattered. The Troopers cited the operator’s wife and collected dozens of IDs, via a DUI-style checkpoint to hopefully pursue additional charges with the prosecutor.

This disruption itself is significant, as this pit has run for more 20 years.

Our continuous efforts have sparked more action from law enforcement agencies across the nation. See the articles at the end of this email for all the action across the country!

While we are now involved in the new cockfighting season, we must not forget the steers that will be abused once again in just a few months.

While we have limited resources, we make a massive impact, as stated in a DroneLife.com article “Although it is tiny compared with some of the more well-known and better funded animal rights organizations, SHARK’s focus on in-the-field investigations helps it have an outsized impact on animal abuse cases in states across the U.S.” ([link removed])
