Hi john,
This is a bittersweet email to write. Today is President Rick Levy’s last day in the office. I’ve worked alongside Rick for more than four years at the Texas AFL-CIO, and knew him six years before that. He saw something in me when I was just an organizer, and pushed me to be who I am today.
That’s why I’m reaching out — because many of us have some sort of Rick story about how he helped us, or believed in us, or worked alongside us to build a bigger, broader, bolder labor movement.

Here are a few ways you can help us honor Rick’s legacy in the Texas labor movement:
-
Save the date for Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026 for a celebration honoring Rick Levy. More information to come!
-
Submit or record a video here wishing Rick a happy retirement — maybe sharing a story or two. Once you follow the link, the website will instruct you to record a video!
-
Upload your favorite photos here of Rick throughout the years.
Rick’s humor, loyalty, and grit have helped us build the modern day labor movement in Texas, and his belief in all of us is why we’re going to continue to organize, educate, and grow for decades to come.
