As a member of the O.U. Tennis team, Samantha Fulnecky became an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) scholar-athlete and a Southeastern Conference (SEC) Academic Honor Roll member.

A few weeks ago, her psychology class assignment asked for her to express her thoughts, feelings, and perspectives regarding an article promoting classic DEI perspectives on “gender” issues.
Because she was asked only to express her opinion, it was easy for her to write about the ways in which leftist revolutionary ideology surrounding sex contradicted the Bible and the Christian faith.

Because her honesty and clarity regarding her Christianity offended her teacher assistant, she was given a written reprimand and a grade of zero.
She will be with us Wednesday for her first public appearance since the issue became somewhat public. So public that the University issued a formal statement on X. The statement implies a robust treatment of the issue, which is not exactly representative of reality.

If Oklahoma is to embark on a proven trajectory of robust prosperity and freedom, it will be on ancient pathways which are tried and proven. Those trails were blazed by men who built Western Civilization.
These were men profoundly influence by Christian thought who gave birth to the science, the literature, and the music of the West. And just as importantly, men who birthed political systems based on the divine law of Christendom. Such was the crowning achievement of the West, the American Colonies.
For too many generations, the American church has allowed those advocating for a secularist vision to occupy the seats of public influence under the false idea that the Christian life was not designed to prosper on this earth but only in the Heaven to come.
Wes Lane, through his SALLT ministry (Salt And Light Leadership Training), has been successful at helping to reverse this defeatist mentality which defines far too many churches.

Wes Lane is a former prosecutor. His gift of communication is legendary and his optimism about the future of Christianity and the earthly governments God ordains has inspired the hundreds of Oklahomans who have graduated from his program.
Wes will send us into the Christmas season with a message of hope and inspiration as to the nature of the season’s central figure we celebrate when we say that the manger's infant we adore is also described by His ubiquity in governmental affairs :

Both the state of Oklahoma and the nation suffer from the secularist march through the institutions. The crisis of cultural identity in Oklahoma surfaced a few weeks ago at the University of Oklahoma when a student was chastised and given a “zero” on an assignment for stating her Christian perspective when assigned the task of communicating her thoughts on radical pro-trans-gender theory.
This radical theory is the established ideological foundation of the University of Oklahoma. The university has strayed far from its founding ideals and is now an ideological threat to the vision of America’s founding fathers and to the health of our state.
Until Oklahoma’s political class understands the destructive impact of secularism in its highest institutions, the future of the state does not bode well for our youth.

A THANKSGIVING PROCLAMATION

Certain words are so beautifully crafted that they should be left alone, unedited, and honored with a humility that admits we can do no better.
Ask not what your country can do for you...
I have a dream.
Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall.

The list is short, but some words reach so deeply into our national soul that any attempt to change or improve them would be as misplaced as presuming to alter Holy Writ.
As we celebrate this holiday weekend, buried though they may be in our national archives, I believe we have such words.
Consider the following, written by George Washington at the behest of the United States Congress in 1789.

By the President of the United States of America, a Proclamation.
Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the Providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor-- and whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint Committee requested me to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness.
Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be-- That we may then all unite in rendering unto him our sincere and humble thanks--for his kind care and protection of the People of this Country previous to their becoming a Nation--for the signal and manifold mercies, and the favorable interpositions of his Providence which we experienced in the course and conclusion of the late war--for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty, which we have since enjoyed--for the peaceable and rational manner, in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national One now lately instituted--for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed; and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and in general for all the great and various favors which he hath been pleased to confer upon us.
And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech him to pardon our national and other transgressions-- to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually--to render our national government a blessing to all the people, by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed--to protect and guide all Sovereigns and Nations (especially such as have shewn kindness unto us) and to bless them with good government, peace, and concord--To promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and us--and generally to grant unto all Mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as he alone knows to be best.

Yes – some words stand alone and enduring:

Some things need no change, no rebuttal, and no debate. No response seems right, other than one of "Thanksgiving to the author of true religion," because "He alone knows best."

TPUSA students at O.U. orchestrated what Governor Stitt called the largest political rally in the history of the state. A few students were on hand Tuesday evening to allow us to remember October 16th when these students filled the Lloyd Noble arena with 10,000 to hear Christ proclaimed as Lord and King!
Just prior to the event, Bob Linn and Senator Shane Jett joined the TPUSA Student leaders at O.U. for a final briefing with Governor Kevin Stitt.
