John –
The special election shifts toward Democrats that we noted early in 2025 – starting right here in the Midwest – weren't outliers.
They were signals of how high Democrats could go if they ran strong, populist, affordability-focused campaigns. The elections earlier this month across the country proved that at the statewide and local level.
All available evidence suggests we're in for a cycle in which the playing field will be a lot wider than usual in the Midwest. And as concerns rise over skyrocketing healthcare costs and tariffs that have decimated local economies, many "expansion" seats could emerge.
In 2024, Midwest Majority PAC identified seats like Iowa's 1st District as opportunities. That district was decided by just hundreds of votes – and just a few months before Election Day, it had gotten minimal attention.
Our goal for 2026 (in addition to doubling down on our current targets, IA-01 among them)? Finding more opportunities early on, and being able to make the key investments before the deluge of spending by GOP super PACs.
As this month ends, our work is only picking up. If you can help fuel it into December – and beyond – we'd really appreciate it. Will you chip in to help us raise $1,200 more and meet our monthly goal?
Thank you,
Midwest Majority PAC
