John,
As a former union member, I will always stand with working people. I’m running for Congress against a well-funded opponent who made a deal with Republicans to sell out working families.
My main Democratic opponent voted to gut a law that would have increased the minimum wage and would have ended the unjust subminimum wage for tipped workers.
As workers’ rights advocate Saru Jayaraman said, this law had “won in the courts and was just days away from taking effect.”
She called the deal a “betrayal of working people” and condemned the handful of Democrats in Michigan’s State Senate who “chose to side with Republicans and corporate lobbyists to strip wages from the lowest-paid people in this state.”
We don’t need any more corporate Democrats who sell us out. We need Democrats who fight for the working class and deliver solutions to help everyday Americans thrive. That’s the kind of Congressmember I’ll be.
Join me in fighting for workers by demanding your Congressmembers support urgently-needed policies to address our affordability crisis — including raising the minimum wage, securing paid leave for workers, ending the subminimum wage for tipped workers and workers with disabilities, and strengthening unions.
If elected to Congress, I’ll support legislation such as these bills introduced in 2025:
- The Raise the Wage Act, which would raise the federal minimum wage to reach $17 by 2030 and end the subminimum wage for tipped workers and workers with disabilities.
- The Protected Time Off Act and the Domestic Workers Bill of Rights Act, which would require employers to ensure paid leave for their employees.
- The Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act to strengthen workers’ power to form unions and fight for better wages, benefits, and working conditions.
As working families are being crushed by the rising cost of living, people urgently need better-paying jobs to support their families.
I know that fixing our affordability crisis isn’t just an economic issue; it’s a matter of dignity.
Being a member of a union, for example, can mean the difference between living paycheck to paycheck and planning for the future without being one emergency away from bankruptcy.
Please join me in the fight for workers and the fight to put people first, rather than big corporations.
Right now, even MAGA leaders are hearing from their angry base about these issues.
Trump voters are expressing regret about their vote and urgently pushing their lawmakers to fulfill campaign promises and fix our country’s affordability crisis.
That gives us an opportunity to leverage this public pressure and build bipartisan support for policies that deliver solutions for working people.
As Democrats, we must not only defend against attacks on everyday people — we must also fight for the bold changes that people need.
Take a minute to tell your Senators and Representative in Congress: Fight for hardworking Americans NOW.
Thank you for taking action to build a better future for all.
