I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, and I am sorry for the email on a holiday weekend. But tomorrow is our end of month deadline, the first since Prop. 50. This is an absolutely crucial moment for our movement. Here’s the bottom line: we cannot let Newsom win.

We have defeated Newsom so many times – overturning his gas car ban, passing Prop. 36 overwhelmingly, cutting off his high-speed rail funds, ending his free healthcare for illegal immigrants, defeating his own staff member in last year’s election – that he decided to simply change the rules of the game. He’s inflicted an entirely new map on our state in a last-ditch desperate attempt to stop our movement from reclaiming the California we love.

He made it very clear from the beginning that I was the number one target of his Redistricting Sham, and he used every trick in the book to get his scheme enacted. Now we face a choice: surrender to Newsom’s corruption, or fight back and beat him again. I prefer the second option – and I know you do as well.

And here’s the thing: I don’t just prefer the second option as an abstract hope. I prefer it as a concrete plan of action. In other words: I fully believe we

**can**beat Newsom despite his best attempts to rig the game against us. And he knows that, too, which is why his cronies continue to attack me nonstop.

Last year, for example, the National Democrats made our district one of their top targets. Newsom’s own high-level staff member resigned from her post to run against us. Everyone expected the race to be decided by the narrowest of margins. And yet: we outperformed all expectations, with the second most decisive win of any competitive district in the country.

And the reason for that is simple: Our movement is about saving our state for

**all**Californians, because Newsom is ruining our state for all Californians. And that is why I firmly believe his gerrymander won’t work.

Newsom knows the only way he can prevail is if we are under-funded. He will then lie and slander is way to victory next year. So it is more important than ever that we have resources to get out the truth. And we truly do need them now, to show we are ready for the fight.
