Dear John:
One week from now, expanded unemployment benefits will expire for more than 30 million Americans, and some of our senators aren't doing a damn thing about it. They’re on vacation right now.
People’s Action members are pulling together across the country for a week of action this week, and we need your help to keep the momentum going. Tell your Senators to do their job and pass a People’s Bailout NOW.
This was the worst month yet for permanent job losses, and
Black and Latinx households are getting hit the worst. That’s a direct
consequence of public officials declining to guarantee people’s
paychecks during this pandemic. If Washington, D.C. does
nothing and unemployment benefits expire in seven days, household incomes
will plunge right before rent is due.
We’re in this
crisis because key legislators and President Trump keep listening to
billionaires instead of the people they are supposed to represent.
We
need the Senate to pass a People’s Bailout NOW that not only extends
unemployment benefits, but also ensures people have health care,
housing, and debt relief they need to stay safe and healthy, all while
building a better future so this doesn’t happen again.
Add your voice and demand that the Senate pass a People’s Bailout that puts people over wealthy special interests. They won’t act unless we make them.
Sincerely,
Sondra Youdelman
People’s Action
