Dear John,

Will you give today to help us stop the barbaric treatment of women in our state, ensuring that our private spaces remain safe?

Former Department of Corrections employee Alicia Beckmann quit her job for the opportunity to share the shocking truth: that “violent male sexual predators are looking for an easy incarceration […] and the opportunity to prey on vulnerable women.” Watch her testify before state lawmakers here.

John, women at the Shakopee Correctional Facility, Minnesota’s only prison for women, are currently forced to share their facilities with men who have a history of criminal sexual conduct against a child, homicide, and assault, to name just a few examples. At times, your team at Minnesota Family Council has been the only voice for vulnerable women in our state. Brave voices like Alicia’s have since joined our ranks because the threat is great.

Alicia’s testimony illustrates the fundamental truth that Minnesota Family Council is tirelessly defending, most recently at a rally at Shakopee Correctional Facility: women’s spaces must be reserved for women only. Male manipulators cannot be prioritized over basic safety and dignity for women.

Progressive legislators in Minnesota hope to pass legislation called the “Equal Rights Amendment” in 2026 that would require all public institutions to ignore biological differences between males and females, effectively erasing women’s private spaces. Progressives tried and failed to pass it last year. My colleague Renee and I were privileged to be your voice at the Capitol in standing for women’s rights. In 2026, we will do everything in our power to continue protecting women.

Minnesota Family Council won’t rest until every woman, especially vulnerable women like those at the Shakopee Correctional Facility, are ensured justice and protection in our laws. Please, bolster our efforts to be a voice for women across the North Star State. I’ll share more with you about our work on this issue soon!

For Minnesota's women & girls,

P.S. To be successful in protecting women’s spaces for women only at our Capitol in 2026, I need your help. Each gift helps us to do more to protect women’s basic dignity and safety across our state. No woman should be forced to share their private spaces with a man. This Giving Tuesday, will you partner with us?
