The Greater Sage Grouse once flourished across the vast sagebrush landscapes of the American West. But over the past 50 years, it has disappeared from much of its former range, losing more than half of its population due to habitat loss from farmland conversion and overgrazing. They’re now one of 42 Red Alert Tipping Point birds—species with perilously low populations and steeply declining trends.
