John, this far-right hate group helped incite the deadly January 6th insurrection – and now, they’re suing to make YOU pay them $100 million for it.

You read that right: Five leaders of the Proud Boys – who were convicted by a jury of their peers after trying to overthrow our democracy – are claiming that they are the victims and are suing the Department of Justice (DOJ). [1]

They’re hoping that Trump – who called January 6th a “day of love” [2] – and his loyalists will hand them millions of our tax dollars to spread more chaos, more violence, and more hate.

But here’s the good news: your pressure is already having an impact. Attorney General Pam Bondi has moved to dismiss this outrageous lawsuit [3] – a sign that public outcry is being heard. It’s a real step in the right direction, and it shows what we can accomplish together.

But we can’t stop now. Proud Boys members are furious – attacking DOJ lawyers online and pressuring Bondi to back off. [4] In this administration, even the right call needs strong, consistent public support to hold.

The DOJ should spend its budget to protect us – to stop violent, organized hate groups like the Proud Boys from terrorizing our communities.

But if we don’t speak out now, that money could instead end up going towards white supremacist assemblies and recruitment, all on the public dime.

Remember, President Trump already violated his oath of office hours after he took it – when he pardoned thousands of January 6th rioters on day one. Letting this lawsuit stand would go even further: it would reward the people who attacked our democracy with $100 million to do it again.

John, anyone who believes their rights were violated deserves their day in court. But we need the Department of Justice to defend this case vigorously and ensure not one cent goes to the Proud Boys. Not for their hate. Not for their violence. Not for their attack on our country.
