Want to know what I was thinking about last night? After the parade, after the football games, after our Thanksgiving dinner?

I was thinking about the world we’re going to pass along to our children.

Listen, my story is only possible in America. As the son of immigrants, my parents taught me the importance of hard work, education, and giving back to the community that welcomed us. They’re the reason I was able to achieve my own American Dream — becoming an SEC prosecutor, a law school professor, a State Senator, a member of Congress, and most importantly, a father.

But as I teach my kids to live the same way, I was up last night thinking: Will they have the opportunity to live their American Dream? To build a career, own a home, and leave their own kids better off?

I truly believe they will… but only if we fight for that better future. Trump’s not going to hand it to us. We have to fight for it. And yes, we have to elect that future at the ballot box every time Election Day rolls around.
