This Black Friday, instead of bargain shopping on Amazon, I hope you’ll consider supporting families in need.

When we created our Rooted in Community Leadership PAC (RIC PAC), it was always about much more than training young people and candidates to run for office and give back to their communities. It was also about direct community support.

This year alone, RIC PAC has donated nearly $100,000, mostly to nonprofits providing critical services to our communities. Members of our campaign are in the community every week, whether it’s supporting diaper drives, collecting canned food, or helping out at community dinners.

Here are members of our campaign team helping the Metropolitan Detroit Diaper Bank package up pajamas and school supplies for kids in Metro Detroit:

We supported the Elmwood Blessing Box this year with direct financial support, allowing them to purchase diapers and period supplies.

And, we’re adopting families this Christmas through local nonprofits, including Goodfellows.
