** SiX Mourns the Passing of Colorado State Senator Faith Winter
------------------------------------------------------------
[link removed]

SiX mourns the tragic loss of Colorado State Senator Faith Winter, a beloved member of our SiX network, Reproductive Freedom Leadership Council ([link removed]) member, and a trainer with the Progressive Governance Academy ([link removed]) , who was killed Wednesday night in a multi-vehicle crash south of Denver.

Senator Winter was a tireless champion for working families, women, and our climate. First elected to the Colorado Senate in 2018 after serving in the Colorado House of Representatives and on city council, she brought deep experience, integrity, and courage to every role she held. Her leadership helped secure transformative wins for Coloradans, including a landmark 2021 measure to fund cleaner, more modern transportation and improve air quality, as well as a long-fought effort to establish paid leave so workers could care for a new child or a sick loved one without sacrificing their livelihoods.

Before stepping into elected office, Senator Winter’s life was rooted in organizing and advocacy. With a background in environmental management and biology, she worked with groups like Enviro Citizen and The White House Project to build a more sustainable, equitable future and to help more women step into leadership. That same commitment animated her work as a Progressive Governance Academy trainer, where she generously shared her time and wisdom with elected legislators across the country. So many in our community carry her lessons on how to govern boldly, stay grounded in community, and lead with both toughness and heart.

We are holding in our hearts her family, all of her loved ones, colleagues, and constituents in Colorado who are grieving this immeasurable loss. We also extend our deepest solidarity to the Colorado legislative community and to all those in the climate and justice movements who walked alongside her.

Senator Faith Winter’s legacy lives on in the cleaner air Coloradans breathe, the protections workers now have, the young people she inspired to lead, and the lawmakers she mentored through SiX, re:power Fund, and Local Progress Impact Lab’s Progressive Governance Academy. We are committed to honoring her life by continuing the work she so fiercely advanced—for people, for democracy, and for our planet.
