Hi John,

The messages around us today are business as usual — but these are not usual times.

If you're being bombarded with ads for things to buy, consider another option: securing a future for the wild.

The Center for Biological Diversity is standing up for nature every single day. The year ahead will demand that we work more fiercely and swiftly than ever.

Please make a gift to the Future for the Wild Fund. Thanks to generous champions of the wild, your donation will be matched.

The threats to the natural world and imperiled wildlife are as severe and dire as we've ever seen.

In just the past two weeks, this administration has proposed to decimate the Endangered Species Act — our most powerful tool to save species on the edge — and dramatically ramp up offshore drilling in our oceans. They're also pushing for more pesticides and aiming to roll back protections for millions of acres of roadless areas that are home to grizzly bears, salmon and owls.

Meanwhile, threats to Alaska and the Arctic are coming from all corners. The administration wants to open the entire coastal plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge — 1.5 million acres of land — to oil and gas leasing. It wants to build roads — at the behest of Big Oil — in places that are now pristine and free of development.

Anti-wildlife politicians and corporate interests have been waiting for this moment. They're moving fast to lock in destructive rules that will tear down our ability to save species and public lands.

They've even put the Center itself on a list of enemies to target.

Every lawsuit we file is a thorn in the side of those plotting to plunder the natural world.

Your support of our fight to save nature is the gift that will keep on giving — and will stand as a testimony to your love of the wild world.
