Friend, Earlier this week I published an op-ed about gratitude in difficult times. Today I want to share a more personal version of that message with you because People For members are central to what keeps me hopeful. These are not easy days. The injustice and instability of the Trump administration continue to shape the lives of millions. But gratitude still matters. It reminds us what we are fighting for and who we are fighting alongside. So here are a few things I am grateful for. I am grateful for my family, who remind me why the fight for a future where everyone can be free and thrive remains essential. I am grateful for my church community here in Washington, which reinforces my belief that faith and justice must move together. And I am deeply grateful for the staff and board of People For the American Way, whose commitment to defending this nation’s best values never wavers. I am grateful for the organizers, volunteers and supporters who make up this movement. People who knock on doors, speak out at town halls, create hand-painted signs, mentor young leaders and support this work through People For. Your persistence fuels everything we do. I am grateful for artists, journalists and creators who challenge lies with truth and imagination. For whistleblowers and federal workers who continue serving the public with integrity. For the voters who made their voices heard in Virginia, New Jersey, New York City and communities across the country this month. For lawyers and judges who uphold the rule of law, and for the justices whose dissents remind us what a constitutional vision rooted in fairness still looks like. And I am grateful for members of Congress who bring clarity and conviction to the fight for democracy. Perhaps most of all, I am grateful for you. Your support strengthens this movement. Your solidarity makes it possible to confront injustice with steadiness and resolve. Your belief in this work gives us the grounding we need to keep going, even through difficult times. We still have the freedom to fight for the future of this country. And we still have a community of people like you who refuse to give up on a more just and inclusive United States. Thank you for being part of People For. Thank you for fighting alongside us. And thank you for being among the many reasons to stay hopeful this holiday season. With deep gratitude, Svante Myrick
