Friends – As we gather in big groups, small circles, or simply in quiet moments, I want to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving.
This holiday can be joyful, but it can also be complicated. For many, it’s a difficult time because of strained family relationships, painful histories, or the reminder of Thanksgiving’s roots in colonialism. I want to acknowledge that reality and the many emotions this day can bring.
Still, I hope we can all take a moment today to count our blessings: the freedoms we enjoy, the loved ones who support us, the communities that lift us up, and the many Washingtonians who look out for one another every single day. And I’m especially grateful for the brave service members who defend our nation at home and abroad.
This tradition reminds us that no matter where we come from, what we believe, who we are, or who we love – we all share a responsibility to care for one another and build a better future together. That’s what gives me hope, and it’s what motivates me every single day in the State Senate.
Thank you for being part of this community, and for everything you do to make Washington stronger, kinder, and more inclusive.
Wishing you and yours a special day of food and togetherness,
Marko
