Happy Thanksgiving.
This year has been one of incredible challenges and terrifying new realities. As I reflect today, I find so much to feel grateful for, even as we have been tested time and again.
I’m grateful for every single person who has kept up the fight to build an America that reflects our best values.
For the organizations and groups of volunteers that stepped up in the wake of the government shutdown to support communities.
For the Americans who are taking a stand against the GOP’s unprecedented mid-decade gerrymandering attempts.
For the people defending their neighbors who are being disappeared by ICE.
For the voters across the country who cast their ballots for candidates who demonstrated we CAN make our economy more affordable and fairer for everyone.
For the volunteers and staffers who supported this year’s campaigns — knocking on doors, making calls, talking with their families, taking a leap of faith, and pouring themselves into a movement they believed in.
For the millions and millions of people across the country who showed up to declare loudly and clearly: We have No Kings in America.
For the workers demanding better conditions for themselves and their colleagues.
For my family, Bruce, and Bailey (and our walks around the pond).
And I’m grateful for everyone on this team — you — and our shared belief in dreaming big, fighting hard, and making big, structural change together.
We’re not accepting defeat. We’re still fighting back. And we will win.
Wherever you are for the holiday, I hope the food is good and the company is warm. Remember, everyone should do their fair share: bring a dish, set the table, clean up — or, for any billionaires at your table, pay their fair share in taxes.
Happy Thanksgiving — and thanks for being a part of this,
Elizabeth
