As we gather to celebrate Thanksgiving, I want to wish you and your loved ones a happy and peaceful holiday.

This is an important moment for our country. We continue to see troubling and inhumane policies coming from the White House, and the president and his MAGA extremists in Congress are acting in ways that undermine the values that form the foundation of our democracy.

Despite these challenges, I have much to be thankful for. I’m thankful for my children, my grandchildren, and my health. I’m thankful for the continued privilege of representing the people of South Carolina’s 6th District. And I’m thankful for you, John -- for your commitment to our shared work, your generosity over the past year, and your dedication to the cause of justice and equality.

You have recognized the urgency of this moment. You have stood up, taken action, and fought for the soul of our nation. Your participation is vital -- because I cannot do this without you.

Between redistricting and the midterm elections in less than a year, we have a difficult fight ahead -- and I’m counting on you to stay engaged. We cannot afford to grow discouraged or give up. Together, we must continue to fight for what we believe in: justice, equality, and opportunity for all.

I’m grateful to have you in this fight with me.
